Africa's Next Top Model Team Jets in

Africa’s Next Top Model hostess supermodel Oluchi Onweagba is in the country together with her team of four judges and six chaperones for the search of the Zimbabwean representative.
The team includes Onweagba who is also the host of the production, South African fashion editor, writer, photographer and model Josie Borain, who has been in the industry for over 15 years and New York City-based Remi Adetiba.
Onweagba, who made headlines after winning the Elite Model Management in the inaugural edition of the Face of Africa in 1998 flew into the country last night ahead of one day auditions to be held at the Rainbow Towers this afternoon from 12pm-5pm.
The team is doing auditions in 13 different countries before the finale on September 13 in Lagos Nigeria.
In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Magangoni Latoya, Onweagba’s manager, said they are ready for auditions.
“We have called for entries and it is still open to girls aged 18-25 years of which the first preference is on those who had applied via our website, although we believe there are more girls who are interested. We will give room to those interested but they have to meet the requirements that are height, slender, natural beauty and confidence,” she said.
She said the auditions are free.
“We brought our production team who will film the auditions of which we will beam on our series Africa’s Next top model on VUZU channel,” she said.
Latoya said she was happy with the responses they got from Zimbabwean girls.
“I have seen a lot of potential in Zimbabwean girls. We are accommodating all types of girls from different backgrounds. It is not an elite programme by the way,” she said.
However, Africa’s Next Top Model is a reality television show in which a number of women compete for the title and a chance to start their career in the modelling industry.
On October 26 2013, a single photograph featuring the official contestants was released on the show’s official website.
The website later revealed that the countries represented in the competition would be Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda.
The series began to air on November 10 2013 and the second season is currently in pre-production.
Audition venues and dates for season two are yet to be revealed.
