Defence on media accreditation for 2018 Armed Forces Day Celebration in Kimberley

The President of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) and Commander-in�Chief of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) proclaimed that 21 February each year will be observed and commemorated as Armed Forces Day (AFD). The Chief of the South Africa National Defence Force(C SANDF), General Solly Shoke, has authorised the hosting of the Armed Forces Day Celebration 2018 and the commemoration of the sinking of the SS Mendi to be held on Wednesday, 21 February 2018 in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Members of the media are herein cordially invited to apply for media accreditation in order to attend the AFD 2018 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. No member of the media will be granted access to the venues of the events without the required accreditation in hand.

Interested members of the media based in Gauteng will be flown aboard an SA Air Force aircraft in the morning of Wednesday, 21 February 2018 and back to Pretoria in the afternoon of the same day. The RSVP lists for the aircraft will be handled on a first-response-first-seat basis as seats are limited on the aircraft. The following information is required in order for accreditation to be processed and granted;

Media House representing (photocopy of press card to be included/attached)

Identification (ID) / Passport Number

Country, Province and Town of Media house (location)

Letter of Assignment from the Editor (freelance journos and freelance photographers)

The above information is required and there will be no exceptions entered into or permitted.
