Duo Spices Fashion Industry

Come April 3-4, female fashion and beauty enthusiasts will be treated to a beauty and fashion fusion extravaganza, courtesy of Charity Baaitse and Masego Kunupi who intend to take the fashion and beauty industry another notch up.
In an interview, Baaitse said the idea of having a beauty and fashion fusion event was conceptualised in 2013 and also held the same year. “This will be a fashion and beauty workshop for young ladies, initially we had planned to hold it every year, but last year, we could not make it,” she said, adding that this year they are bigger and better.
2 Fab High Tea, as the event is known, is the brainchild of Baaitse and Kunupi. Baaitse said that their partnership was just on this event because Kunupi is a celebrity make-up artist and is good with beauty tips and make-up. “She also does beauty training,” she added. She further indicated that they have invited several people to do presentations at the two day event.
“We are going to have two fashion shows at the main event on April 4. I will be responsible for one fashion show which will be done by my shop, Material Galz and the other fashion show will be done by SPUNK from South Africa,” she said.
“SPUNK is a South African designer who dresses celebrities and I felt Batswana ladies would benefit a thing or two because they seem to be ahead in terms of fashion,” she added.
She stated that they have invited a HerbalLife representative from Botswana, who will teach attendants on how to lose weight and stay healthy.
“We all know weight loss is a challenge for most women and we are trying to help them with that,” she said.
Baaitse said the main event would have a fashion tutorial by Palesa Mashaba, who was once a fashion editor for South African magazine, True Love. It will also have a fully catered for dinner and a goodie bag valued at around P150.
“What ladies need to understand about this event is that it is a girl’s night out and it is all about ladies. We get to dress up and mingle with each other and just be pretty,” she said.
The event is not selectively geared towards young ladies, but middle aged women are also welcome, even girls at school and working women who all love looking good and taking care of themselves.
On April 3, Baaitse said the one hour event called RockingNheels would basically be dance. “We have invited a choreographer who will teach us how to dance, so be confident and walk in high heels. The dance will mainly be everyday routines on how to keep ourselves fit,” she said.
The event will start at 630am at Jack’s Gym at the iTowers, while the main event will be held at Lansmore, starting at 7mp.
Tickets will be sold for P500, and it will admit one to both events and if one wants to attend the main event only, they will purchase a P400 ticket. She added that if one buys a ticket now it entitles them to get any outfit from Material Galz at half the price.
Baaitse further said she started her business in 2012. “I have always been that girl who likes clothes and I thought to myself, why not make money off it,” she said.
“I travel to London, USA, Hong Kong and Dubai to buy clothes,” she said, adding that through the event, she would share knowledge on fashion with other women. Baaitse also has other businesses ventures apart from Material Galz. “I am an all-round entrepreneur,” she said.
On where she sees Material Galz in the next five years, Baaitse said the feedback so far has been great and it will grow even bigger. “Social media has done wonders for my business because people now can keep up to date with the latest trends and I in turn helping to bridge that gap,” she said.
