Transport Minister hands over R174 million worth of infrastructure as OTM closes

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Joe Maswanganyi, MP and the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Willies Mchunu and the Local Municipality of Umfolozi invite members of the media to the official closing event of the 2017 October Transport Month campaign.

During the event, Minister Maswanganyi and Premier Mchunu will officially open and hand over the Kwabhobhoza Interchange on the National Route 2, Section 30 to the community of Umfolozi. The interchange is located within the Mtubatuba Municipality on the coastline of north-eastern KwaZulu-Natal.

The two principals will visit and conduct an operations inspection of the ETEZA Traffic Control Centre which controls the regulation of freight transportation to and from the Richards Bay Harbour including such destinations as Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

The Kwabhobhoza Interchange and ETEZA Traffic Control Centre amount to almost R174million worth of road and transport infrastructure service delivery projects completed in the Local Municipality.

Minister Maswanganyi and Premier Mchunu will also interact with and address members of the Umofolozi Local Municipality and surrounding areas during a community imbizo in the area.
