SOUTH EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO IRAN OVER COLLAPSE OF HISTORIC PIASCO BUILDING

The South African government has conveyed condolences to Iran following the collapse of the historic Plasco Building on Thursday.

The South African Government extends its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and further wishes the injured a speedy recovery, the Department of International Relations and Co-operation said in a statement here over the weekend.

The 17-storey commercial building in the Iranian capital, Tehran, collapsed after it caught fire on Thursday leaving more than 70 people dead and scores injured.

It is estimated that 50 to 100 other people, including some shop owners and firefighters, remain trapped under the rubble.
