10 years imprisonment for murder

KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: Tsomo Regional Magistrate’s Court convicted and sentenced 30-year-old Thabelo Ngamlana to undergo ten years imprisonment for murder. He was sentenced on Tuesday, 14 August 2018 at Tsomo Regional Magistrate’s Court. The accused was found guilty of murder after he shot and killed 27-year-old man Magunya Masoko on 05 January 2011 at about 06:00 at Mahlubini locality, Xilinxa Village, Ngqamakhwe.

Both accused and the victim were in a traditional ceremony on the morning in question. It is alleged that the deceased assaulted the accused with an open hand. The accused drew his firearm, shot and killed the victim. The accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu has welcomed the sentence and also praised the investigating officer for good work.
