GRAAFF-REINET – Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) arrested a 24-year-old man for alleged rape of a 41-year-old woman.
It is alleged that the suspect, who is the boyfriend of the victim, fetched her from her workplace in Graaff-Reinet on Monday, 31 August 2020, at about 16.00 and accompanied her to her residence in Vrygronde, Graaff-Reinet. On arriving at the residence, the suspect allegedly accused the victim of having an affair with another man and assaulted her.
The suspect returned to the residence of the victim during the evening of Tuesday, 01 September 2020 and allegedly raped her.
The reported the rape and assault to the Graaff-Reinet Police and the suspect was arrested.
Suspect will appear before the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 03 September 2020 on a charge of rape and assault.
