WESTERN CAPE – Our efforts to seize illegal substances in the province yielded success when members attached to Woodstock SAPS arrested a 28-year-old man in Mascani informal settlement yesterday at about 15:00 who was found in possession of illegal substances. A joint crime prevention operation conducted by the members and Law Enforcement officers has led to spot a suspicious looking man with a black back pack standing at the corners of Beach and Railway Roads.

The members approached the suspect and he tried to evade arrest however swift police action led to his arrest. Upon conducting a search of his back pack police members confiscated 226 packets of Tik, 37 mandrax tablets and 78 units of heroin. The value of the drugs is yet to be determined and an undisclosed amount of cash that was found in his possession was subsequently seized.

The suspect is expected to make a court appearance in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 August 2019 for dealing in drugs.
