306 suspects nabbed during provincial suspect raiding operation

Potchefstroom: To keep the community of North West safe and protected the detectives in the province arrested 306 suspects for various offences during suspect raiding operation between Wednesday, 19 and Thursday, 20 September 2018.

The arrests include 133 suspects held for Assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and assault common. The other arrests include 18 for common robbery, 17 for malicious damage to property, 23 for theft, four for rape, two for murder and 38 for residential and business burglary . Out of the 306 arrests, 64 were for crimes against women and children.

The suspects were arrested at all seven policing Clusters in the province. Most of them appeared at the various courts within the province on Tuesday, 25 September 2018.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane applauded the detectives for their sterling crime fighting efforts saying it will send a clear message to perpetrators that they have no place to hide in the province and that long arm of the law will ensure that they are brought to book.
