The diligent efforts of our police members to curb crime during this festive season continue to produce successful outcomes.

Last night, 30 December 2019 at about 23:00, members of Philippi Crime Prevention Unit were busy with crime prevention patrols when they spotted and approached a man at Princess Court, Hanover Park. They stopped and searched him and found a black Ruger Prescott pistol with no serial number, one magazine and ammunition in his possession. The suspect, aged 20, was arrested. He is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court soon on charges related to possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
