A 33-year-old man to appear before Kuruman magistrate court for traffic offences

NORTHERN CAPE – On Sunday, 26 January 2020 at about 01:30 in the morning a 33-year-old man was arrested in Kuruman for drunken driving, reckless and negligence driving and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Captain Tebogo Makone, Captain Olebogeng Tawana, Warrant Officer Mosimaneotsile Letsapa and Constable Merapelo Pilane tried to stop a white Citi Golf car but the driver ignored the officers and instead sped off.

From Kuruman town Main street he kept on speeding. With the assistance from Kuruman Neighborhood Watch, the officers managed to stop the car.

The driver was arrested, taken to Kuruman hospital for blood tests and thereafter detained.

The suspect will appear before the Kuruman Magistrate court soon on three charges, drunken driving, driving without a valid driver’s license and reckless and negligence driving. He bumped into a police vehicle while ignoring them.

The JTG Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean applauded Capt Makone, Capt Tawana, W/O Letsapa and Const Pilane for the apprehension and arrest of the suspect.

General Bean also complimented the Neighborhood Watch for working together with the police to ensure that all road users in JTG are safe.
