Johannesburg: The Acting Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia, along with the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, and the Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, will visit Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni, where two civilian women and two members of the Anti-Gang Unit lost their lives.

According to South African Government News Agency, the delegation will be joined by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, as they visit the scene on Sunday afternoon. The Acting National Commissioner has urged the Reiger Park community to assist police in bringing those responsible for the killings to justice.

The government condemned Friday's incident, where two officers were patrolling and were shot after responding to gunfire. 'Government will not allow criminal elements to undermine law enforcement,' Acting Government Spokesperson Nomonde Mnukwa stated. Law enforcement agencies have been mobilized to apprehend those responsible.

SAPS' Crime Intelligence, Tracking Team, and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation are working to bring the perpetrators to justice. Community cooperation is vital for reclaiming neighborhoods from criminality. The government emphasized the importance of community-police collaboration to combat crime.

The government has increased measures to combat organized crime, including Operation Shanela, which targets crime hotspots and disrupts criminal networks. 'Government remains resolute in protecting the lives and safety of all South Africans,' the statement concluded.
