Khartoum: Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, affirmed the government's support for Central Darfur State, enabling it to perform its role and fully assume its responsibilities toward its citizens. During a meeting at his office today, TSC Vice-President was briefed by the Deputy Governor of the Darfur Region and Wali of Central Darfur State, Mustafa Tambour, on the state government's performance over the past period and the challenges it faces.
According to South African Government News Agency, Wali of Central Darfur State Mustafa Tambour told reporters that the state government is determined to contribute effectively alongside the Armed Forces and supporting units to regain all localities within the state and secure its borders with Chad and the Central African Republic. The Wali added that the meeting addressed the humanitarian situation of displaced persons (IDPs) from Central Darfur in safe states and the scale of services provided to them, noting that all preparations have been completed to seat the state's students for the Sudanese Certificate examinations in April in Northern, White Nile, and Nile River States.
He also acquainted the TSC Vice-President with the arrangements made by the state's Hajj and Umrah Secretariat to transport five groups of the state's citizens to the Holy Lands to perform the Hajj rituals. Tambour added that the meeting discussed the threat of drugs to the state's youth, stemming from widespread promotion by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, as well as the influx of mercenaries, weapons, and four-wheel vehicles through the gates from the Central African Republic and Chad.
