ANGOLA AT WOMEN LEADERS FORUM FOR AFRICA’S TRANSFORMATION

NEW YORK, June 4 (NNN-ANGOP) –Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion Filomena Delgado has represented the country at the two-day High Level Women Leaders Forum for Africa’s Transformation started Thursday at UN headquarters in Nova York.

The event is co-sponsored by the African Union Monitoring Mission to the United Nations, UN Women and the German Permanent Mission to the UN.

The forum gathered about 80 delegates from Africa and Diaspora, Including women leaders in politics, the public and business sectors, civil society and the media.

The meeting is a platform to launch the African Women Leaders Network, a new initiative that seeks to increase women’s leadership in Africa’s transformation with a focus on governance, peace and stability.

Topics such as the “Overview of women’s leadership in Africa: historical perspectives, current and emerging challenges and opportunities – what kind of women’s leadership is needed to promote the implementation of Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals” are part of the agenda of the meeting.

Angolan delegation comprises Director of the Legal Office of the Ministry of Family and Women Promotion Isabel Silva, and diplomats of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
