Another armed robbery foiled as one suspect is shot dead and others injured

Members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT), Crime Intelligence Unit assisted by members of the South African National Defense Force last night, Saturday 06 June 2020 at about 22h00, succeeded in foiling yet another planned armed robbery, including a farm attack in the Marblehall and Denilton policing areas, by arresting two suspects and fatally wounding the other.
The police received information about a group of suspects traveling in a white Mazda bakkie, who planned to commit armed robberies in Denilton and Marblehall policing areas. A team was then swiftly assembled and made a follow up.
A vehicle matching the description given was spotted at Lusaka village and the members ordered the driver to stop. The suspects allegedly started shooting at the members who returned fire and in the process, one suspect was fatally wounded, two were injured and taken to hospital and the fourth one managed to evade arrest.

The police recovered one (01) firearm, Police bulletproof vest, Police reflector jacket and a Police cap. Their vehicle was also seized.
On Wednesday 03 June 2020, the police managed to foil a possible armed robbery that was planned to take place at a Post office in Atok under Apel policing area, by arresting nine suspects and recovering firearms and ammunition.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Petrus Scheepers has commended the members for accordingly reacting to the information about these planned robberies and apprehending the suspects.
The suspects, aged 33 and 39 will appear in Moutse magistrate court soon facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted murder.
