Another firearm removed from wrongful hands and suspect behind bars

JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL – Police arrested a 39-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at corner Claim and Noord Street on 06 November 2019 at 12:00.

Police were busy with their routine crime prevention foot patrols when they saw a suspicious male changing direction. They stopped and searched him. They recovered an unlicensed firearm with no serial number and live rounds. He failed to produce a license to possess a firearm.

Firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes. Investigation is under way and suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
