Armed suspect arrested for attack on police in Nyanda

The freedom of a suspect who decided to shoot at police during National Police Safety Month in Nyanga was short lived. During the early hours of this morning members on patrol in Nyanga approached two armed suspects who refused to surrender. The fleeing suspects who fired shots at police were pursued. One of our members returned fire and in the process the suspect was wounded and arrested. The 9mm pistol and ammunition in his possession was confiscated. His accomplice managed to evade arrest and is being sought. The 27-year-old suspect is due to make his court appearance in Athlone on Monday, 23 September 2019 to face the charges of attempted murder and the possession of a prohibited firearm.
