Astronomers gather in Cape Town for the 5th NRF Astronomy Town Hall Meeting

From 02 to 03 July 2016, more than 70 astronomers and space scientists are expected to gather at the University of Cape Town for the annual Astronomy Town Hall Meeting, which is hosted by the National Research Foundation.

This year will be the 4th annual gathering in South Africa of the astronomy community which includes astronomers, space scientists and international participants. The program for this weekend event will include updates from a variety of stakeholders, as well as on the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project, the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) and developments in data-intensive astronomy.

A keynote address will be given by Professor Steve Kahn from Stanford University on the evening of Saturday 2 July 2016 with regards to the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST).
