PORT ELIZABETH – The hunt for a gang member allegedly involved in a shooting last night, ended this morning, 15 November 2019, when he was arrested by Bethelsdorp Crime Prevention Unit members.
It is alleged that on Thursday evening, 14 November 2019 at about 20:15, the 23-year-old victim was standing outside his house in Melkbos Street in Arcadia when the known suspect approached him. An argument followed and the complainant was shot in his right hand. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was hunted down and at about 06:00 this morning, Bethelsdorp police followed up on information received that has led to the subsequent arrest of the 22-year-old suspect at a house in Aanblom Street in Arcadia.
He is detained on a charge of attempted murder and is expected to appear in court on Monday, 18 November 2019.
In another unrelated incident, Gelvandale police is on the hunt for another gang affiliate allegedly involved in a fatal shooting of a 27-year-old male in Kobus Street on Thursday evening, 14 November 2019.
It is alleged that at about 19:15, Lorenzo Nicholas and a friend were in Kobus Street when the suspect approached from another street and started shooting at Nicholas. Nicholas sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The suspect ran away and no arrest has been made as yet and a case of murder is under investigation.
