Basic Education launches Partnership on Teacher Development Centres in Benoni

Education sector partnership with UNISA ensures continued professional teacher development finds expression

The Department of Basic Education in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training as well as UNISA will on Friday 25 November 2016 launch a Partnership on Teacher Development Centres.

In attendance will be Mr Enver Surty, Deputy Minister of Basic Education, UNISA Chancellor, Prof Mandla Makhanya who will jointly launch the partnership geared at enhancing teacher’s appreciation of technology and helping them blend it into the classroom.

The Education Sector continues to make great strides in leveraging ICTs to strengthen teaching, learning and administration within the system. The advancements made, thus far, can be attributed largely to the various partnerships, such as these between government and institutions of higher learning.

In line with this the Deputy Minister will address the Launch at the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance in Benoni, Ekurhuleni as the first part of this long term, multi-faceted partnership officially takes ICT’s to the heart of Continued Professional Teacher Development.
