Battery thieves nabed

DURBAN – On Tuesday, 15 February 2022 at 13:00, police received information about a vehicle that was used in a theft out of a truck along the N2 south bound.

It is alleged that two batteries were stolen from a truck that was parked at Arbour Road outside a mall in Amanzimtoti. The suspect’s vehicle was reported to be travelling towards the direction of the old airport. A joint operation was formed and the vehicle was spotted on the N2 freeway travelling towards Higginson Highway. The vehicle was then intercepted on the Higginson Highway.

Three occupants were found inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, police found two batteries, a reflector jacket, gloves and various tools. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded for further investigation. Three suspects aged between 33 and 40 are expected to appear in the Amanzimtoti Magistrates Court tomorrow.
