Brother arrested for murder

EASTERN CAPE – Msobomvu police arrested a 24-year old man for alleged murder of his sister aged 28. It is alleged that the deceased was a disabled person and she was staying with another woman who was employed to look after her. The guardian left the 28-year old woman to buy airtime. The 28-year old woman and her guardian were staying at Smuts Ngonyama Informal Settlement near Mchubakazi Township, Butterworth.
When the guardian came back to the shack, she found the deceased being covered with a blanket with upper body injuries. The swift investigation of the case led to the arrest of the suspect. The murder was committed on Wednesday, 03 June 2020 at about 13h30. The 28-year old woman passed away at the scene.
The motive behind the murder is not yet clear at this point in time. The suspect was arrested at Smuts Ngonyama Informal Settlement near Mchubakazi Township, Butterworth. He has been charged with murder and will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 05 June 2020 on a murder charge. The identity of the deceased will be withheld as some of her close relatives are yet to be informed of her murder.
