Business robber nabbed

DURBAN – It is alleged that yesterday, 27 January 2021, at 10:00, five unknown men entered a business premises on Stamford Hill Road and held the employees at gunpoint.
The suspects took various brands of new cellphones, clothes and colognes before fleeing the scene in their getaway vehicle. The police were immediately alerted and a multi-disciplinary operation was put in place to trace the suspects involved. Information was gathered by the team that led police to Besters. Upon arrival at the identified area, two suspects were seen running away from a house.
The team gave chase and managed to arrest a 29-year-old suspect. Inside the house, the police recovered 85 sealed boxes of cellphones, three colognes as well as several items of clothing taken during the robbery. Police are still searching for the remaining suspects. The estimated value of the recovered property is R150 000-00. The arrested suspect will appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of robbery.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the team for the swift arrest of the suspect.
