Businessman to Face Court for Alleged Involvement in Vehicle Theft Case

Musina:A prominent businessman from the North West region is set to appear in the Musina Magistrate's Court in Limpopo today. He has been added as an accused by the Commission's Recommendations Task Team (CRTT) in connection with cases of attempted motor vehicle theft, fraud, and uttering.

According to South African Government News Agency, the charges relate to an incident on July 22, 2026, when police at the Beitbridge border post in Musina intercepted two vehicles reportedly en route to Malawi. Two suspects were arrested at the time and charged with attempted vehicle theft, fraud, and uttering.

The investigation revealed that the vehicles were allegedly being transported from Mahikeng towards the border post. It is alleged that there were attempts to secure bank authorisation documents for legal cross-border movement, but these were not obtained, leading to the use of fraudulent bank documents.

As the investigation continues, the police are examining the use of fraudulent documentation and the intended cross-border transport of the vehicles. The vehicles, which were still under financing, have been returned to the bank.

The two original suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to reappear in the Musina Regional Court on October 27, 2026. The businessman was charged on October 21, 2026, and is expected in court for the first time today. The CRTT, formerly known as the Madlanga Task Team, is overseeing the case.
