Calvinia SAPS nab suspect for dealing in dagga

NORTHERN CAPE – Today, 04 October 2019, SAPS members from Calvinia police station conducted Safer Friday operations from 09:00 until 15:00.

At 10.30 a VCP was conducted in Hoop streer in Calvinia during which 4 taxis were searched.

Sgt Sheldon Opperman from the Calvinia K9 unit searched one of the taxis and found a black suitcase.

It was later discovered that it contained 6 kilograms of dagga with an estimated street value of R9000-00. A 28-year-old male suspect was arrested and will soon appear in the Calvinia Magistrate’s court on a charge of dealing in dagga.

The station commander, Lt Col Vincent van Wyk congratulated the member for his alertness during the search of the taxi and also thanked all the members for their contribution in removing drugs from the streets.
