City advises of extended period of water supply disruption to part of Fresnaye

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has shut off the water supply to part of Fresnaye this morning, Tuesday, 7 June 2022, at 08:00 and the supply was scheduled to be finished at 18:00, but due to the construction work to be done on the main water supply to the area, the anticipated time for completion of this work is 22:00 today. This will result in the disruption of water supply to Arcadia Road, Top Road, Head Road and Avenue Bartholomew.

‘The work involves cutting into the pipeline to connect the newly installed ratio pressure reducing valve (RPRV) in Arcadia Road to the existing water supply network. The maintenance crew has experienced some complications with the shut-off valve during the construction work, which is delaying the progress of the work. They are, however, resolute to complete the work in the soonest possible time. We sincerely appreciate the support and patience of the affected residents during this water supply disruption,’ said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation.

Residents are kindly advised to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

This work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s pipe replacement and upgrade programme, which addresses the need for water supply network upgrades, in particular the distribution system to the consumers.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused by the delays.
