City advises of possible water supply disruption in the Heideveld and Tambo Village areas

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be conducting a dummy shutdown on its 535mm diameter bulk water main in Klipfontein Road, Manenberg to prepare for the repair of the water main. This could result in low water pressure or the disruption of water supply to the Heideveld and Tambo Village areas from 09:00 on Tuesday, 29 March until 09:00 on Wednesday, 30 March 2022. Alternate water supply will be rerouted to these areas during the dummy shutdown.

The Water and Sanitation Directorate is planning the repairs of a major leak on the 535mm diameter bulk water main on Klipfontein Road, near the Manenberg Police Station. To do the repairs, this pipeline needs to be isolated and an alternate water supply rerouted to Heideveld and Tambo Village area and the dummy shutdown will indicate whether it can be achieved successfully. If successful, the repairs will be done without delay thus eliminating another shutdown and associated inconvenience.

This operation will ensure the future continuity of water supply to residents and businesses.

Residents are kindly advised to reduce their water consumption during this dummy shutdown to reduce the strain on the water supply.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
