City conducts proactive maintenance at Glen Garry Reservoir supplying Bloekoembos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Bellville

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be doing repairs to two 1000mm diameter control valves at its Glen Garry Reservoir from 00:00 on Saturday, 26 March 2022 until 00:00 on Sunday, 27 March 2022. This work will require the reservoir inflow to be shut off for this period. The reservoir distributes to the residents in the Bloekoembos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Bellville areas and will be filled in advance to sustain the water supply.

The repairs to the two critical control valves at the Glen Garry Reservoir forms part of the City’s bulk water supply infrastructure maintenance programme.

Planning has been done to minimise the possibility of water supply disruption to residents during this period.

Consumers in Bloekoembos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Bellville are requested to reduce their water consumption during this period to maintain available water supply and pressure in the pipe network and reservoirs until the repairs are completed.

The City regrets the inconvenience caused, and appreciates residents’ cooperation as it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
