As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to restore dignity in communities across the metro, its Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, and other dignitaries handed over 10 title deeds to beneficiaries in Durbanville today, 28 February 2022.

‘All title deed handovers are meaningful to us and our residents but this one is particularly meaningful. These residents, some who are among the most vulnerable in Cape Town, had to wait for more than two years due to a protracted legal process to move into their new homes after construction was completed. It is not fair to our beneficiaries to make them wait any longer than absolutely necessary for their opportunities and it is with great pleasure that we also give them their title deeds. This has been a challenging project but we have all persevered to ensure that the lives of our qualifying beneficiaries can be improved.

‘Today we celebrate with residents as we empower them with their title deeds to become first-time property owners. We thank the team of people who were involved in this project for the hard work and dedication in helping us provide opportunities to these beneficiaries who waited patiently for their new homes. Over the coming months, we will continue to hand over many more title deeds to beneficiaries,’ said Councillor Booi.
