City libraries host career expos

During March and May this year, eight of the City of Cape Town’s libraries will host career expos. Aimed at giving learners, and those looking to make a change in profession, the information they need to make an informed choice about a career.

As part of the City’s Inclusive Economic Growth Strategy, libraries will host career expos to assist learners, patrons, unemployed youth and those interested in making an informed career choice.

‘Career expos are a fun way to get the information you need to make the best decision about future employment. More than free career advice, the expos are a chance to practice your interview skills and provide networking opportunities. Learners are exposed to occupations they may not be aware of or haven’t considered,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.

Partnering with external stakeholders, libraries remain an important vehicle for obtaining career information and will bring all the necessary role players together under one roof to get patrons excited about choosing a career,

The career expos will take place during March and May and the objective is to make choosing a career fun, informative and accessible.
