City to rehabilitate stormwater pipelines in Ottery and Wetton

The City’s Road Infrastructure Management Department is set to commence with the rehabilitation of stormwater pipelines in Crescent Road and Beryl Road in Ottery and Muller Road in Wetton. The work is scheduled to commence in the coming week and is expected to be completed by 13 May 2022, pending unforeseen delays and bad weather. Read more below:

The works will take place from Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:00 and at night as required from 18:00 to 06:00.

The works will be done along the following roads:

• Muller Road in Wetton – the section between Norman Avenue and Woodlands Road

• Crescent Road in Ottery – the section between Beryl Road and Enslin Street

• Beryl Road Ottery – the section between Lovat Road and Crescent Road.

‘This is a very important task particularly ahead of Cape Town’s rainy season. Stormwater pipelines play a crucial role in ensuring proper rainwater drainage and prevent flooding and other environmental issues. That way, we can be sure that our road users are safe while on the road,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

‘We understand that these are busy roads and that traffic moving in both directions will be affected. However, the work has to be done and there is no perfect time to do it. To manage this, we have flag personnel regulating traffic in one direction at a time, via a stop/go-system. Thus, we appeal to motorists to please comply with the signage and obey the flagmen’s directions. We do not anticipate any congestion, however, where possible, we encourage motorists to consider using alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delays,’ said Councillor Quintas

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
