City’s Human Settlements Roadshow heads to Morningstar

The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements Directorate is providing feedback directly to communities on housing projects and plans for their areas. Today, 24 November 2022, the City visited Subcouncil Seven in Morningstar and assisted residents with their housing related queries.

Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi visited the Subcouncil Seven Roadshow event where different departments within the Human Settlements Directorate assisted residents.

Subcouncil Seven is the City’s biggest subcouncil and consists of five wards in the northern agricultural area in the metro. Wards 21, 70, 103, 105 and 112 fall within this subcouncil.

‘Today the City’s Human Settlements Roadshow visited Morningstar, Durbanville and we are pleased that the City’s plans for the area were well received by the community and Subcouncil. The City has a number of existing projects under way in the various wards and we provided an update on service delivery improvements to residents.

‘Human Settlement officials assisted a number of residents with their City housing-related matters and we look forward to assisting many more residents who need help in the weeks and months to come,’ said Councillor Booi.

The City has allocated R2,8 billion for Human Settlements over the next three years and in the last financial year, the Directorate spent more than 97% of its grant funding for projects and programmes. Grant funding spend is an incredibly important indicator of service delivery and a pro-poor focus as it is earmarked for the most vulnerable communities, for human settlements and basic services.
