City’s Mfuleni Sondela project making steady progress

City officials visited its Sondela informal settlement upgrade project in Mfuleni today, 26 September 2022, to check on its progress. The project will see the area reblocked to improve the living conditions of residents. This is an example of the City’s commitment to providing opportunities and improving the lives of its more vulnerable residents.

The project is expected to benefit in excess of 400 households and is expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year.
‘We are pleased to see the excellent progress that has been made on site. The City is committed to providing dignified housing opportunities to residents and this project is testament to that. This is in line with the City’s commitment of bringing greater formality to informal settlements where it is possible to do so. Thank you to the project team, which is ensuring its successful completion and the community, which is supporting it,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, who visited the site today.
