Community honour police at an award handing over ceremony

POLOKWANE – The police in Dennilton under Sekhukhune District have on Tuesday, 09 March 2021 conducted a safer school awareness campaign during an award handing over ceremony that was hosted at Tlhako Secondary school.

The Station Communication Officer Sergeant Selala, Vispol commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tshikonelo, Sergeant Masombuka and Young Civilians on Patrol (Ycop), represented the police and their efforts were highly appreciated by Moutse Central Circuit Manager, Mr Vilakazi.

He assured collaboration with the police through school initiative programmes in the fight against crime and motivating learners. During the ceremony, police were presented with certificates as a token of appreciation for the sterling work they have done so far in the schools within the policing precinct.

The following issues were hinted to the learners, educators, parents and other stakeholders present at the event as follows:

* Covid-19 compliance.

* Sexual offences.

* Domestic violence.

* Effective use of suggestion box.

* House breaking and burglaries at schools.

* Purchasing of stolen properties.

* How to report a missing person.

* Safety tips at home and methods to keep the school safe at all times.

* Discipline and respect.

* Substance abuse.

A total number of 170 pamphlets about sexual offences, safety tips and domestic violence were distributed as the campaign concluded.
