Court outcomes of a pensioner nabbed for raping a minor

The 68-year-old suspect arrested for raping a 6-year-old girl has appeared before Lenyenye Magistrates’ Court today.

The case was postponed to 06 December 2018 for bail application and further police investigations. The suspect remain in custody.

This follows an incident that occurred on 20 November 2018 around 16:00 at Maake outside Tzaneen, where the suspect who is the victim’s neighbour, lured her to his house and raped her. He then offered her a packet of chips in exchange for her silence.

The parents of the child after noticing the changes in the behavior of the victim, they questioned her and she divulged the whole ordeal.

The police were immediately notified, a case of rape was opened and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit started with their initial investigations until the suspect was arrested at his home.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
