BOTSHABELO – The Welkom Public Order Police Task Team deployed in Mangaung Metro arrested three suspects on Friday, 15 April 2022. The team started to sweep through hotspots and drug posts in Boithuso and Botshabelo Police Station precincts in the morning and pounced on the first suspect at about 10:30.
A 27-year-old male was searched and twenty-nine bankies of dagga was found in his possession. The suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga.
The stop-and-search activity continued and another 24-year-old male was found in possession of nine boxes with (twenties) of counterfeit cigarettes, one bankie containing Chrystal Meth, one full and eight quarters of mandrax tablets. Cases were opened at Botshabelo Police Station.
The last arrest was effected in Boithuso area where a 56-year-old African male was found in possession of two large mealie-meal bags containing loose dagga, forty-seven small plastic bags containing dagga and nineteen bankies with dagga inside. The dagga was weighed at about 21.50 kilograms. All three suspects were detained in police custody. They will appear in Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
