Dar League Drops in Ranking

TANZANIA Premier League has dropped six places down in the latest edition of the Strongest National League of the world.
The Mainland top flight league is now placed 124th in the world on 99 points, according to the 2014 version of International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). In the previous edition, the survey conducted by the IFFHS ranked the Tanzanian league in 118th position.
The latest edition shows that the league has slipped behind regional compatriots; Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
Burundi and Rwanda were the biggest movers, leaping 13 and 15 places to sit on 106th and 111th positions respectively. Kenya moved five places to rest on 109th while Uganda rose from 120th to 112nd.
The rankings, produced annually since 1991 by the IFFHS, are based on club results from national and intercontinental competitions.
Tunisia Premier League is the best ranked in Africa but placed 30th in the world. They are followed by neighbours Egypt in 44th position and South Africa, who are occupying the 54th slot.
Algeria and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are fourth and fifth-ranked with Morocco dropping to sixth place from third.
The Spanish Primera División retains the first place thanks to the extraordinary performance in the year, in domestic competitions as well as continental cups, of their four best clubs, Real Madrid CF, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC. It is the fifth time in a row since 2010.
Previously the Spanish Primera División has been the Strongest National League of the world in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. Primera División got a difference with more than 250 points from second place.
Italian Serie A got the second place and moved English Premier League to the third place. Both leagues were very close but the performance of Italian clubs in Europe was better than English clubs.
Argentina’s Primera División was the best of South America and got the fourth place. German Bundesliga got down two places from 2013 to rest in fifth place.
France Ligue 1 retained its 2013 position (7th place) and kept in the best level leagues. Portugal moved up ten places to occupy 8th position. Colombian Primera A was again the third South American league, followed closely by Paraguay.
For other football continents, Mexican Primera División is the best for CONCACAF area, ahead of Costa Rica and USA.
In Asia, the three best leagues kept their same places than 2013: Republic of Korea league held on first place, with Saudi Arabia and Japan in second and third place respectively.
