Department bid farewell to Mme Lesego

The Gauteng Department of Social Development bid farewell to Tshwane Regional Director Lesego Motau, fondly known as “Mme Lesego” among colleagues at Head Office on Friday.

The Head of Department (HOD), Thembeni Mhlogo said to the retiring Social Worker who qualified in 1976, “Your kindness, respect, commitment and efficiency earns you a rare to find civil servant. Most of us as senior managers and staff in the department respect and adore you for who you are”.

Her counterpart in Johannesburg Nonhlanhla Mthimkhulu who once reported to the retired Motau before her current role said, “As your subordinate in the Tshwane Region I learnt a lot from you. You literally equipped and prepared me to be where I am today. Where ever you will be resting enjoying your retirement you should always remember that you have left a legacy in the department”.

The Sedibeng Regional Director who is also retiring soon, Kate Jacobs said, “Sister, you have always been our sister over the years, farewell. Go and enjoy discounts at several stores as a senior citizen and remember that I am joining you soon”.

The HIV and AIDS, Director, Busi Zondo remembered when they first met in 1996. You have not changed since those days you remain respectful, reliable, professional and display humanity at all times”.

She said, “In 2003 together with other three managers, we were appointed as Directors. We were so excited and bought bigger cars and today one of us is retiring. It has been a wonderful journey”.

The Deputy Director General (DDG), Onkemetsi Kabasia said, “You have made an impact in the department by having good values and principles which are good virtue in a civil servant”.
