Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa cancels visit to Uitenhage due to technical aircraft difficulties

Pretoria – Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa today Monday 21 March 2016 cancelled his scheduled visit to the Eastern Cape due to technical aircraft difficulties.

Deputy President Ramaphosa was scheduled to address the commemoration service of the 31st anniversary of the Uitenhage massacre in the Eastern Cape.

The South African Airforce aircraft (SAAF) in which Deputy President Ramaphosa was scheduled to fly to the Eastern Cape developed technical difficulties, necessitating the cancellation of the visit to the Eastern Cape.

All stakeholders including organisers of the commemoration service in the Eastern Cape have been duly informed. Deputy President Ramaphosa extends his thoughts and prayers to families of the victims of the 1985 Uitenhage massacre while wishing the best for the organisers of today”s commemoration service.
