Despatch police probe house robbery

Despatch police are investigating a case of house robbery after unknown number of armed men hit a house in Khayamnandi, Despatch this morning.

On Monday, 25 February 2019 around 2am, it is alleged that a 36-year-old woman was in her bedroom when she heard someone forced open a lounge door of her house in Butise Nontshinga Street, Khayamnandi area in Despatch. A complainant further said that she ran into the bedroom where her two children were and closed the door. Moments later, a suspect wearing a balaclava with a torch entered a bedroom and threatened the three victims and also covered them with a duvet. The trio remained still under the duvet, but could hear that there were other suspects inside the house. Moments later, a complainant heard that it was quiet and she removed a duvet and raised the alarm. Suspects stole a television set, two speakers, an amplifier, a small fan, a back pack, a cellphone, six pairs of tekkies and three hand bags before fleeing the scene.

Police are investigating a case of house robbery and are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Wouter Verwey at 084 846 2273. Information can also be shared via Crime Stop line 08600 10111.
