Double arrest for illegal dagga and tobacco in Plooysburg

NORTHERN CAPE -The Plooysburg SAPS pounced on two males allegedly transporting dagga and tobacco products. On Saturday, 13 June 2020 at about 7pm the Visible Policing unit of Plooysburg spotted a suspicious looking Toyota Yaris and stopped and searched it about 3km outside Plooysburg.
Police found 5 bags of dagga, 10 packs of Stuyvesant cigarettes and 10 bags of BB tobacco stashed on the back seat and in the boot. The total value of the goods is estimated at a quarter million Rands (R250 000-00).
Police arrested the two suspects aged 47 and 48 years old and charged them for dealing in dagga, illegal transportation of cigarettes and tobacco during the National Lockdown period.
Police also confiscated the Toyota Yaris as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime. The suspects should be appearing in the Douglas Magistrates Court soon. The investigation continues.
The Acting Station Commander of Plooysburg SAPS, WO Barand Cedras commended the SAPS members for a job well done.
