Pretoria: The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) has in a statement placed on record the correct facts regarding media reports alleging that it is investigating the Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane.
According to South African Government News Agency, the DPCI confirms that it is not investigating the Acting National Commissioner. The complaint received by the DPCI is linked to an existing matter that is currently handled by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
In accordance with established procedures and to prevent duplication of investigations, the complaint submitted to the DPCI was referred to IDAC for further consideration and the complainant was informed accordingly. The DPCI explained that the referral of the complaint does not constitute the registration of a criminal case or the initiation of a criminal investigation by the DPCI.
It was merely referred to the IDAC because of the existing investigation.
