Drugs worth R2.5 Million seized and two suspects arrested in Goodwood

WESTERN CAPE In the quest to address the generators of serious and violent crimes afflicting communities, Western Cape police embarked on an intelligence-led joint operation and seized large quantities of drugs, ammunition and cash at a business premises in Goodwood. The members comprising intelligence operatives, K9 Unit, Flying Squad and Goodwood Crime Prevention Units, confiscated drugs, cash and ammunition. Armed with much needed information, the members swooped on the property located on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Vasco Boulevard. They seized the following:

187 X .22 rounds of ammunition, an assortment of drugs such as cocaine,

3.5 kg X Crystal Meth(Tik)

70X Ecstacy tablets,

1600 Mandrax tablets

900g X Rock

900g X Cocaine

a substantial amount of cash.

The drugs are estimated to be worth R2.5 Million.

The two suspects, a 27-year-old male and a woman aged 35 were arrested for dealing in drugs and illegal possession of ammunition. They are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court soon.

Acting Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi has praised the units involved. This is a step in the right direction in our efforts to deal with serious crime and its generators, says Lt General Mfazi.
