Estate Agent to appear in court on a charge of fraud

FREE STATE – A 38-year-old estate agent has been subpoenaed to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court next month on charges of fraud, contravention of the Estate Agency Affairs Act for failing to apply for a fidelity fund certificate and failure to keep a trust.
It is alleged that in May 2017, a complainant deposited an amount of R135 000 into the bank account of GANS Property Investments for the purchase of a house in JB Mafora Square, Bloemfontein.
The accused informed the buyer that the specific property was no longer available and that a new house will be sourced.
The complainant however refused the offer and insisted that money be refunded.
Various attempts were employed to get the refund to no vail. Instead the accused claimed that GANS Property Investments was experiencing financial difficulties and that she will reimburse her at a later stage.
To date, the complainant has not received any of her money back and as a result, a case docket was registered and handed over to the Hawks further investigation.
Last week Friday, 12 June 2020, the accused was served with summons to appear in court on 27 July 2020.
