Extensive investigation by Knysna Detectives into murder of businessman yields positive results with arrest of suspects

WESTERN CAPE – Extensive and intricate investigation by Knysna Detectives in collaboration with Garden Route District Crime Intelligence and a private security company that monitor CCTV cameras in Knysna, yielded positive results when police arrested a 32- year old suspect in connection with the murder of a 46-year old businessman, Mawande Kondlo, on Thursday, 25 August 2022.

Initially we reported that Knysna Detectives investigate the death of a 46-year-old man after his body was found next to the gravel road between the trees near the turnoff from Uniondale Road (R3339), also known as “Bokkoppie”, on Monday, 17 January 2022 at about 18:50. Investigation at the time revealed that an off-duty police official discovered the body of the man, hands and legs tied with a cloth. It was later discovered that the victim had a wound to the head. He was declared dead by paramedics on scene.

Crime scene experts combed the scene for clues and a murder case was subsequently opened for police investigation.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to make his first appearance in the Knysna Magistrates’ court on Friday, 26 August 2022 once charged with murder.
