Facebook rapist handed life term imprisonment

FOURIESBURG – Since 2015 the 42-year-old convict Mokoena Petrus Nhlapo has been posing himself on his Facebook account as a successful business man and lured woman by promising them employment.

A total of fifteen cases with 62 charges were opened against him.

His victims were all raped at different places after he has conducted fake interviews.

The convict recorded a sex video with one victim and posted it on his Facebook account whereby his encouraged his victims to open rape cases against him.

On 01 June 2018 the convict was arrested, detained and has been remanded in custody until he was sentenced on Tuesday, 22 February 2022 to life imprisonment.

The convict did not show any remorse when he was sentenced to serve life imprisonment for rape charges, six counts of assaults with a fine of R300 or thirty days imprisonment, three counts of kidnapping each with five years’ imprisonment, one count of malicious damage to property with a fine of R1,000 one count of Crimean injuria with a fine of R200 or twenty days imprisonment.

Thirteen victims are Lesotho citizens while two are South Africans.

It took three years for the newly promoted detective Captain Rene Nel of Bethlehem FCS Unit to investigate these complicated cases, she was a warrant officer by then.

Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane applauded the Captain and said: “This will send a positive message to all rapists out there that we have capabilities as the police to investigate and enable the justice system to send one to jail for good” concluded the Provincial Commissioner.
