Fallen police member described as a brave man

WESTERN CAPE – Slain police member Cst Mzingisi Gule from Harare police station in Khayelitsha was praised for what some speakers termed as predatory instincts in the fight against crime. During the memorial service which was held at the Salvation Church of Revival in Makhaza on Friday, 30 April 2021. Constable Gule’s partner, Constable Phikolomzi Diko who always worked with him in the van said, the 35 year old father of a two year old girl was a thorn in the flesh of criminals. “When we pursued and chased criminals late Const Gule was a good runner who would chase criminals as if he does not breathe until he caught up with them”.

Constable Gule was off duty when he was shot and killed in Philippi East on Saturday, 24 April 2021 in his car in what is suspected to be a car- hijacking incident.

Former station Commander of Harare police Brigadier Tshugelo Raboliba said when the late Constable Gule arrived at the station he always displayed signs of bravery.

Family speaker, Ms Sindiswa Gule, and elder sister to slain Constable Gule said her brother was everything to the family. In his keynote address Gen Beaton said it was unfortunate that a young lion with dreams and aspirations had his life cut short. We have many questions but our Lord picked the best flower out of. His garden. The South African Police Service mourn the death of our colleague.

We value his contribution and desire to serve and protect. We value his selflessness and efforts to promote service excellence to all communities. Meanwhile, earlier Popcru representative, Mr Komanisi Solani expressed concern about the safety of police especially when commuting between work and home utilising public transport. He urged police management to look into the matter with a sense of urgency as their lives are put at risk.
