Five arrested in possession of cables

A joined intelligence driven operation resulted in five suspects arrested in possession of cables.

The operation was between SAPS members from Ekurhuleni North Cluster, SAPS Organised Crime Unit and private investigators from Telkom and Eskom.

The team at early hours of this morning, were following information about suspects who are in possession of suspected stolen copper and aluminium cables at one of the storage places at Energy Road Chloorkop.

Upon arrival at the identified storage room, five suspects were cornered while busy loading the cables in a truck.

The investigation team with the help of experts from Telkom and Eskom managed to identify the copper and aluminium cables that belongs to Eskom and Telkom to the estimated value of R885 000.

The arrested suspects aged between 24 and 45 will appear at Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of possession of stolen copper and aluminium cables.
