Five suspects arrested for possession of unpolished diamonds in Touwsrivier

WESTERN CAPE The swift response from police members have led to the arrest of five suspects on Wednesday, 23 October 2019 at around 21:25 at the N1-National road, Touwsrivier for possession of unpolished diamonds.

The members received information about a white Volvo truck that was travelling on the N1 with five occupants in possession of diamonds. Touwsrivier SAPS was called for assistance and responded. The truck was pulled over on the N1 nearby a petrol station where members proceeded to search the vehicle. Members initially discovered one diamond under the carpet, however, after a thorough search of the truck, ten more diamonds were found in the diesel tank. The diamonds were discovered to be real after a test was conducted, however, their monetary value is yet to be determined.

Five male suspects, aged between 31 and 48, were arrested for possession of unpolished diamonds and are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday, 2019-10-28 at the Touwsrivier Magistrate’s Court.
