Five suspects behind bars for possession of suspected stolen vehicle, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition

GAUTENG – Police, in conjunction with Johannesburg K9 Unit, arrested five suspects between the ages of 30 and 66 for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Fordsburg on 22 June 2020 at 10:00.
One of the arrested suspects is a former police officer that was chased out of the service for corruption.
Police received a tip-off from a community member about a suspicious vehicle with five occupants inside a white Audi. Police rushed to the said streets; they searched the suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms with no serial number and live rounds. Vehicle also tested positive that it was reported stolen at Cullinan in September 2018.
The firearms will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of serious and violent crimes.
Investigation is under way and suspects will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
